Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, dancer, and singer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford grew up in a world of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors in stage film and television and she is continuing to work on award-winning projects with several forthcoming projects. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's upcoming project involves Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is undoubtedly a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford returns to Broadway as a co-star with Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This show is being directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford previously starred as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the nation's crisis, which swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the popular CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No previous to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie on You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway roles includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the original role of Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver and now lives traveling between Los Angeles & New York.
